Could IVF be affected by overturning Roe v. Wade?

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – With the possibility of Roe versus Wade being struck down by the supreme court, could there be unwanted consequences?

Some medical experts fear In Vitro Fertilization could be threatened if the law was overturned.

If it does happen, there is a strong chance there could be a special session of the Nebraska Legislature, that could put an abortion ban into place.

Reproductive physicians in the state worry about broad sweeping language in the bill.

“Our concern is that it a very broad sweeping bill defining life at fertilization, and our concern about that is we work with embryos and fertilized eggs all the time and the stipulations discuss that any termination of that life intentional or otherwise could be pursued as a felony, in fact, a felony equivalent to manslaughter.” Omaha reproductive physician Stephanie Gustin said.

Gustin said the best way to help, is by calling your senator and reminding them to keep the language of the bill very specific.
