Pregnant woman found slain in burned-out trailer is identified as Minneapolis woman

Nov. 20โ€”A pregnant woman found dead on Nov. 8 in Minneapolis’ Uptown neighborhood has been identified and two people have been charged with fatally beating her.

On Friday, the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office identified the woman as Annysa Marie Zierhut, 28, of Minneapolis. According to the medical examiner’s office, she was seven months pregnant at the time of death. Her body was found in a burned-out travel trailer in the 3500 block of Hennepin Avenue South. Fire investigators found evidence of accelerant in the trailer.

Shannon Michael Benson, 42, of Minneapolis, and Jade Monet Rissell, 27, of Elk River, Minn., were each charged this week with one count of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder of an unborn child in connection with the case.

Zierhut had been reported missing in late October.

Benson is registered with the state as a predatory sex offender. Both he and Rissell have criminal records in Minnesota.
