Pregnant woman killed while crossing the road in Watsonville

Watsonville police are investigating after a car hit a pedestrian Thursday night before crashing into an SUV.The collision happened before 8:30 p.m. on South Green Valley Road, between Loma Prieta and Carey avenues, according to Watsonville Police.Police reported on Friday that the victim was a 33-year-old pregnant woman. Police said the woman was incorrectly crossing the four lanes when she was struck. Two people inside the BMW were taken to the hospital.Investigators reported on Friday that the 20-year-old driver of the BMW was not speeding or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The crash resulted in South Green Valley Road being shut down overnight. The driver and passenger of the Ford SUV suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene.Anyone who may have witnessed this fatal collision is asked to call 831-471-1151.
