Sarah Herron Shares Vulnerable Post About Celebrating Her Changing Body Amid IVF Treatments

Instagram

Opening up.

Bachelor Nation first met Sarah Herron on Season 17 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Seasons 1 and 3 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”

Since her time on the Bachelor Nation shows, Sarah has been extremely open with fans about important topics like fertility, egg freezing, limb differences, and mental health.

And throughout the past couple years, Sarah has been particularly open about her and fiancé Dylan’s egg freezing, fertilization, and embryo transfer process.

Most recently, Sarah took to Instagram to open up about one of the parts of fertility treatments that isn’t talked about enough.

The Bachelor Nation star shared a throwback photo of herself and wrote, “One of the sucky parts of infertility is that your body is put through the ringer; weight gain, hot flashes, adrenal fatigue, lymphatic dysfunction, etc. — and this is all for years BEFORE even becoming pregnant. Women who go through fertility treatments experience drastic bodily changes, too, but don’t have a child to show for it — so symptoms and side effects feel less ‘earned’ in a weird, societal way.”

Sarah continued on, saying that because so many couples keep IVF a private journey, it can feel even more isolating and lonely when your body starts to change.

The Bachelor Nation star said, “Truth is, whether YOU can see it or not, I feel swollen, lethargic and… old. Being comfortable in my body is not a way I feel during this season of life. But I’m practicing REALLY hard to have compassion for myself and the overtime my body is putting in.”

She also commented on the photo alongside her caption, writing, “This photo is over a year old, but I always look back at it because it reminds me of how comfortable and relaxed I was on this day. It was the month before our IVF journey started and our lives began their inevitably long transformations.”

Sarah concluded her post with a message to others going through a similar journey.

“Infertility is anything but comfortable; emotionally and physically. So when I see this pic of when I was comfortable, I grieve AND try to celebrate my body today for it’s silent grind. to all the women feeling uncomfortable in their IVF bodies — I see you, fully,” she said.

We know that Sarah continuing to share all the ups and downs that have come with her IVF journey with her hundreds of thousands of followers will help others going through a similar experience.
