SIMS IVF has announced that it will open a new satellite clinic in Limerick later this month. The clinic, based in the Regus Building, Castletroy Park Commercial Campus, will offer local ancillary appointments for bloods and scans for those undergoing fertility treatments at Sims IVF Clinic in Cork.
At present, the clinic in Cork treats a high volume of patients living in the South West region, with patients attending the clinic for three or four ultrasound scans and blood tests during their treatment cycle. The nurse-led service in Castletroy will significantly reduce the travel burden for patients attending the clinic in Mahon, being conveniently accessible via the M7,M20, N18, and N24.

Damien O’Dowd, Group Clinic Director at Sims IVF, said: “Over the past number of years, we have been gathering feedback to understand how we can improve access to our services for our patients. One thing that comes up frequently in our engagement with patients, is the time input required to attend appointments when undergoing treatment, and the stress this can add for patients. With a large volume of patients travelling to our Cork clinic from Limerick and surrounding counties, the new satellite clinic will enable them to avail of appointments closer to home.”
This is the second satellite clinic opened in response to patient demand, with another clinic located in Carlow to provide easy access for patients in the midlands. The service in Carlow experienced a 75 per cent increase demand between 2019 and 2020, and is now operational five days per week.
Mr O’Dowd added: “Our aim is to bring ancillary appointments to our patients where possible. The satellite clinics allow for meaningful integration of treatment into our patients’ already busy lives. By removing the time required to travel, sometimes quite long distances on return trips, we hope to positively facilitate and enhance our patients’ fertility journey.” Sims IVF Cork will continue to coordinate appointments for patients at the Limerick Clinic on 021 4410900 or [email protected]
