Whitney Port revealed that she has started in vitro fertilization (IVF) after experiencing her third miscarriage in November of last year.
On Tuesday, the 36-year-old reality star, who shares son Sonny, four, with her husband Tim Rosenman, updated her fans as she uploaded a black and white photo of herself taken during the couple’s Valentine’s Day dinner.
‘I was exhausted. Had been a long weekend mixed with day 5 of hormone therapy for [egg emoji] retrieval,’ she wrote on the photo that she shared to her Instagram Story.

She wrote, ‘Where we’re at…After my first consultation with Dr. Huang, I ended up starting the process for egg retrieval like 5 days later!

‘All the timing worked out and since then, everything has progressed pretty quickly. I’m on day 6 of the hormones – Menopur and Gonal.
‘Timmy has been giving me the injections every night like a champ,’ The Hills: New Beginnings star added.
‘On the 4th night, I got hit with a pretty hefty surge of emotions and then on Sunday, just had that emotional hangover.
‘Today, I feel more rested but still not entirely myself. Trying to be mindful of how I react to things during this time. It looks like egg retrieval will be this weekend at some point.’

Last month, Whitney conducted a Q&A session on her Instagram Story and responded to a follower who asked if she had considered IVF.
‘Yes, so we can have another one of these crazies,’ Whiney wrote on an image of her Sonny leaping into the air on a pier.

She continued, ‘Someone asked me if I feel strongly that we are missing another member of the fam or if we would be ok with one so I thought I’d merge the two.
‘We are considering all of it at this point but also feel almost complete with Sonny.
‘Lately I have been feeling this insane sense of gratitude for him. And we will be more than ok if we just have Sonny, but we want to do the discovery and get all the information to see what the process for a second could be.

While answering a fan said that she had experience a miscarriage and wanted to know how the television personality had handled her miscarriages, Whitney wrote on another picture of Sonny, ‘It’s so hard.
‘Each one I had, I had different reactions. The first one, I felt slightly relieved, don’t know why, felt like a monster for not feeling ready for number #2 but the second and third ones have been just heartbreaking and it’s all about giving yourself grace to go through the various steps of grieving.
‘And telling those around you the you need extra love and possibly even space that the moment.
She advised the fan, ‘Take your time to figure out your next steps and don’t rush into anything because of outside voices. Just heal your body and your spirit and you can reconvene.’
